Musher Question & Answer

How many years have you been running dogs?

Tell us about your dogs?
The team this year is a mix of my main 16 that I have been racing the last 3 years and 20 up and coming 2.5 year olds. It's an amazing mix of veterans in the Prime and a group of very eager young dogs ready for the challenge. All 36 dogs have been bred, raised and trained at Wild and Free and over 80% of them are out of my legendary leader Silver. I am extremely excited to see who will make the top 14!

How did you get started running dogs?
Saw a team go by at my feet and said, I'm going to do that!

What do you love most about running sled dogs?
The bond and connection that I create with the dogs and the amazing places that they take me.

Are you a member of any other organizations involved in sled dog sports?

Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?
To finish strong with a BIG, HAPPY, HEALTHY dog team! And to enjoy the ride!

What music do you listen to on the trail?

How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?
Themes, Movies, TV Shows, Elements.

Messages to Mushers

Dear Brent Sass my name is Reyna. I’m in grade and 8 and I have picked you as my musher to track for a school project. I hope you do well and there are no injuries to you or your dogs. I chose you because you did 10 amazing races. I was wondering how many puppies you have? Good luck.

Hi Brent! This is our first time learning about and watching a sled dog race. We liked your profile and were wondering if you would be willing to tell us the names of your dogs? How many are on your team? Do you have a favorite? Also, what is your favorite part of racing? We noticed that you were the first one in Dawson and a friend of ours told us that means you won gold nuggets. Congratulations! :) We wish you and your dogs a fun and successful race. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Please include pictures if you can. :)
