2018 Board Nominations- Alaska nominations close Monday, May 7

Alaska nomination forms must be received by 5pm Monday, May 7, 2018.

The Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race is seeking applicants for both Alaska and Yukon Board of Directors.*  

  • Three (3) board members will be elected in May 2018 for three-year terms.
  • Numerous Yukon board members will be elected in May 2018 to serve one and two year terms. 

Qualifications: To be considered for the board, applicants must be members in good standing of Yukon Quest International, Ltd. (YQIL) as of May 30, 2018 and able to travel to Canada without legal restrictions.  

Commitment: Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings in Fairbanks (teleconferencing is available) and to attend two joint meetings with the Yukon board (in Fairbanks in Spring, in Whitehorse in Fall; two days for each meeting, not including travel time). Board members should expect to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per month to board meetings and other Yukon Quest business. Special events and other projects may take additional time. 

Application: To submit your name for consideration for the 2018 board election, please complete the appropriate application form and return it to the corresponding organization by the deadline. Each country has different requirements for filing as indicated by the different deadlines. Each board provides governance and fiscal responsibility for the organization in their respective country. The two organizations work in concert to plan the race and to ensure the long-term viability of the race.
