Preparations for the 2017 Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Dog Sled Race are shifting into high gear, thanks to the support of Whitehorse Motors.
The local Ford dealer returns for its ninth year as a proud sponsor of the Yukon Quest. Members of the race team and race officials will be taking off from the start line in rental vehicles from Whitehorse Motors, travelling through tough winter driving conditions en route to Dawson City and across the border to the finish line in Fairbanks.
Whitehorse Motors also assisted the Yukon Quest with fundraising efforts, hosting a special test drive event earlier this month that raised over $3,500 for the race.
“The Drive4UR Community Test-Drive Day was a huge success,” said Natalie Haltrich, Yukon Quest Executive Director – Yukon. “The willingness of Whitehorse Motors to host the event and their eagerness to help raise additional money in support of the Yukon Quest proves their commitment not only to this race but to the community. Being able to provide safe and reliable vehicles so that our race team and officials can confidently navigate the trail is key to our logistics, and a highlight of the incredible partnership we have built with Whitehorse Motors over the years.”
“Whitehorse Motors and Ford Canada are both proud and pleased to continue our support for the toughest sled dog race in the world,” said Tina Woodland, General Manager and company partner. “The Yukon Quest exemplifies the true spirit of the North and we’re looking forward to another fantastic race in 2017!”
Established in 1969, Whitehorse Motors has been serving the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Northern BC for nearly 45 years. They offer a large selection of new and used vehicles for sale or lease, as well as a fleet of rental vehicles through their Budget office.
The 2017 Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race starts Saturday, February 4th in Whitehorse.
