Musher Question & Answer

How many years have you been running dogs?
35

Tell us about your dogs?
Lille Hoa Hottentott has been my main leader for many years, he is a very special dog. We got him from friends in Norway and his brother was in Robert Sörlie's team for several years. My second main leader is Joda who I bought directly from Joe Garnie in Teller Alaska. Staying with Joe in rural Alaska for several days had a big positive impression on me.

How did you get started running dogs?
My wife wanted a dog, unfortunately it was a sled dog.

What do you love most about running sled dogs?
Being out in nature with a good team of friends on four legs.

Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?
After racing the Iditarod and the Finnmarkslopet 14 times I feel the need to fulfil the last great long distance race, the Yukon Quest, before I get too old.

What music do you listen to on the trail?
No music at all, I just enjoy the quietness of the trail

How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?
We always choose the names from a special theme like the Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones.
