How many years have you been running dogs?
10
How did you get started running dogs?

I started by running behind a German Shepherd.

How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?

The last litter was born after a canoe trip so I named them after river features - Wave, Canyon, Hoodoo and Eddy.

Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?

I entered the race for fun! I don't have any performance expectations as long as the dogs are happy.

What do you love most about running sled dogs?

Camping out with a bunch of friends in the bush!

Tell us about your dogs, particularly some stories or facts about dogs running this year's race

All my dogs have a "position" in society. Albus is the Prime Minister. Phoenix is the clown and Eddy is his assistant. Toulouse is the Minister of Transportation. Dali is the opera singer (and PB a singer in training). Canyon is the priest, and so on.

Tell us about your favourite experience with a volunteer on the trail

Oh, I've got many! I spent lots of time as a volunteer over the years and met amazing people. As a musher, I most often go where there isn't anybody.

What music do you listen to on the trail?

Nothing. I watch things, I don't listen much

My indispensable handler is 9 years old and running his own dog team of three.
