Fans of the 2017 Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race won't miss a minute of the action at the start line, thanks to CKRW 96.1 The Rush.
As the Yukon's Official Radio Station of the Yukon Quest, The Rush will once again be offering a live radio stream of the race start from Whitehorse, including a pre-race show with interviews. The Rush will also provide air time throughout the year for the Yukon Quest to advertise special events and important information.
"CKRW has been a sponsor of the Yukon Quest for more than 20 years", says Natalie Haltrich, Yukon Quest Executive Director - Yukon, "and it's these strong community partnerships that keep the race running year after year."
"We have so many fans that live both within and outside of the territory that aren't able to be in Whitehorse to watch the mushers and their teams begin the journey," says Haltrich. "It's so important to be able to share the excitement of the start line around the community, the territory and around the world, and thanks to the continued commitment of The Rush, we can make that a reality."
Haltrich added that the additional air time provided year-round makes it possible for the Yukon Quest to stay connected with the community which helps raise the amount of funds required to run the race, and recruit the number of volunteers necessary along the trail.
Eva Bidrman, General Manager for The Rush says, "we take great pride in being part of the Yukon community, and the Yukon Quest has always held our hearts and exhibited everything that is great about this Territory.”
The 2017 Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race starts Saturday, February 4th in Whitehorse.
