The Yukon Quest 450 will include a guaranteed minimum purse of $35,000, while the Yukon Quest 250 will have a guaranteed minimum purse of $15,000 and the Yukon Quest 100 will have a guaranteed minimum purse of $2,500. Both the YQ450 and YQ250 will pay out to the top 10 finishers, and the YQ100 will pay out to the top five finishers.
All three races will begin at Shipyards Park in Whitehorse on Saturday, February 11, 2023. The date has been changed to better situate the race within the mushing calendar and allow more mushers to compete in the race.
The annual Barkfest & Sign-Up Day is on Saturday, August 6, 2022, outside the Yukon Quest office. The event will include a fundraiser barbecue, a prize draw for mushers who sign up in-person, a dryland race in partnership with the Dog Powered Sports Associated of the Yukon, and tickets on sale for our summer 50/50 raffle. Barkfest is open to the public and free to attend.
More information on the race, including entry fee deadlines, sign-up packages and the 2023 rules will be available on the Yukon Quest website later this week.
The Yukon Quest Board of Directors would also like to announce its Executive for the upcoming year. Leading the Board are president Anne Tayler, vice-president Didier Moggia, secretary and treasurer Mackenzie Hare.
