The Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race focuses on community with support from Air North, Yukon’s Airline.
Champions in community outreach, Air North returns as the Official Airline – Yukon. They will be providing the Yukon Quest with travel certificates to give out as raffle and auction items throughout the many events surrounding the race. Air North continues their partnership with the race to put on the popular pre-race QuestFest and will be onsite giving out cookies and helping fans find their favourite merchandise.
New this year, Air North is joining the Yukon Quest, in partnership with the Yukon Literacy Coalition, in the delivery of the Yukon Quest (Short) Story Contest. Air North will be publishing the two winning stories in Yukon North of Ordinary, the official in-flight magazine of Air North, Yukon's Airline.
In addition, travelers flying Air North to attend Yukon Quest events can use the QUEST2019 promo code to receive a 10% discount on the best GoYukon, Saver, or Optimum fare available at the time of booking. The discount is available for flights between January 19, 2019 and February 25, 2019. This promo code cannot be combined with any other offer and applies only to the base fare; taxes and fees are additional.
Air North continues to provide a valuable flight credit and travel certificates to the race throughout the year. This generous contribution enables the race to transport race personnel between Whitehorse and Dawson for necessary logistics.
“Air North really understands the importance of community in the success of this race and this partnership is a wonderful way to highlight our shared values,” says Bruno Bourdache, Business Manager – Yukon. “We are so grateful to have their continued support in helping with the logistics of the race with their invaluable in-kind contribution.”
“The Yukon Quest is an iconic Yukon event and we are honoured to continue this partnership in 2019,” says Benjamin Ryan, Chief Commercial Officer for Air North, Yukon’s Airline. “We’re thrilled to expand our support this year with the Yukon Quest (Short) Story Contest as well as partnering with Chieftain Energy and Nuway Crushing to sponsor race veteran Hans Gatt. We’re looking forward to this year’s race and wish all the mushers and their teams a safe and successful journey.”
QuestFest will be held January 28 to February 1, 2019 at the Old Fire Hall in Whitehorse. In partnership with Air North, enjoy musher presentations, sled dog movies, kid’s corner, silent auction, merchandise sales and more. All things Yukon Quest for die-hard fans, those new to the race, and everyone in between. A full schedule will be made available online in January.
The Yukon Quest (Short) Story contest will be open in December with a submission deadline of February 21. All students from around the world, grades one through seven, including home-schooled students, are welcome to submit entries.
