2022 Race Officials

Doug Grilliot - Race Marshal


Doug Grilliot of Willow, Alaska returns as Race Marshal for the 2022 Yukon Quest races. This will be Grilliot’s 11th year of officiating Yukon Quest events and he looks forward to working with the mushers and all of the volunteers on the four races the organization is sponsoring. A veteran of the Yukon Quest and Iditarod, Grilliot brings a great deal of experience to the organization both as a former musher combined with years of experience with almost every aspect of the Yukon Quest organization.

Russ Bybee - Race Judge


This will be Russ's fifth year to be a race judge for the Yukon Quest. As a veteran of both the Quest and Iditarod, Russ brings a wealth of mushing experience to the trail. Currently serving as a director on the Alaska Board and as a member of the Rules Committee, Russ is very much involved

in the planning for the 2022 races. He looks forward to getting back on the trail with the mushers and all of the volunteers.

Russ is happily semi-retired and raises and trains Anatolian Shepherd Dogs in his spare time.


Sebastian Schnuelle - Race Judge


Sebastian Schnuelle has multiple years of experience as a judge with the Yukon Quest and Iditarod. A past Yukon Quest champion, he has finished the Quest 6 times and is very well known for his popular reports from the trail. Sebastian is a current Yukon Quest board member in the Yukon and is the chair of the Yukon Quest Rules Committee.
