The Yukon Quest is a volunteer effort from beginning to end. This epic 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race would never have been possible without the volunteer efforts of thousands of dedicated individuals all of whom have lent a hand ... and sometimes much more - over the past 37 years. Volunteers are a vital support to race operations, office administration and fundraising. The Yukon Quest welcomes volunteers from all over Alaska, the Yukon and around the world. Join our incredible volunteer team and become part of the Yukon Quest!
We are very excited and looking forward to seeing you in Fairbanks, Alaska or Whitehorse, Yukon in 2022. Volunteer and Visitor Planning documents provide an overview of the Yukon Quest, as well as volunteer information for the next Race. In these documents, you will find maps, checkpoint descriptions, tips on clothing and weather, travel industry details, etc. If you still have questions or concerns after reading these documents, please contact either Yukon Quest office.
Special 2021 Volunteer Information
Due to border restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic the Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race was cancelled. While we're planning for the next race in 2022, our Alaskan organization is putting on a shorter 300 mile race this year, the Summit Quest. The race is named for the two major summits the trail crosses on the Alaskan side, Rosebud and Eagle.
