What do you love most about running sled dogs?
Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?
I miss it & our daughter is now old enough to permit us some time on the trail. My goal is to show her what a happy & healthy dog team looks like from start to finish.
How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?

We have litter themes that we decide upon once they’re born. Past litters include Deadwood, Ordinary Wolves (after the incredible Seth Kantner book), Dogs of Literature, Country Music Legends & Soul Music Legends.

What music do you listen to on the trail?
Share a quick story about one of your indispensable Handlers

We’ve never had handlers before except during races (indispensable help from a number of friends there). We have however had a great deal of help the last month or so from two folks here in Healy who are both incredibly affectionate & gracious with the dogs. We are endlessly grateful for their assistance.

Tell us about your favourite experience with a volunteer on the trail
Every experience we have on trail happens wholly due to the extraordinary efforts of the entire Quest volunteer team. I’ve been fortunate enough to know a bunch of them, first as a volunteer myself & later as a musher. My favorite experience is the general & enduring feeling of family among all the people involved in this race.
