Musher Question & Answer

How many years have you been running dogs?

Tell us about your dogs?
Brownie and Polar, 8 year veterans from a McKenzie River husky line. Shadow, a Neff dog bred with Brownie and had 6 "pocket rocket" pups. I kept 5 of the 6 and will b trying to hold 'em back.

How did you get started running dogs?
Running a friend's team back in 1990 and then a full on winter out of Wiseman - Brooks Range, winter 91/92.

What do you love most about running sled dogs?
Their spirit and companionship as we move across Alaska's magical landscape.

Are you a member of any other organizations involved in sled dog sports?

Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?
Has been an elusive "Alaskan long" goal of mine. These youngsters are looking for and need a lot of trail to tear up!!

What music do you listen to on the trail?
The sounds of nature and the unnatural sound of my singing at times.

How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?
Knee jerk "nick names" as puppies. Seems to be a lot of names based on physical characteristics... Coyboy, Cowgirl, Blob, Polar, Brownie, Tin Tin, Porky and Smoky.
