Welcome to the first edition of the 2027 Yukon Quest newsletter! From now until race day, we’ll be sending a monthly newsletter, along with shorter weekly updates to keep you informed on the latest news, events, and opportunities to get involved. Be sure to update your email preferences so you don’t miss a thing.
Preparations for this winter’s race are well underway, and we’re excited about the progress being made. On Saturday, February 6, mushers will leave Whitehorse on the 550-mile Yukon Quest, following the historic Yukon River corridor to Dawson City. We’ll also be hosting the 300-mile race to Pelly Crossing, offering another exciting challenge for competitors and spectators alike.
Behind the scenes, our Race and Trails Committee has finalized this year’s trail route, and the updated trail map is now available on our website. The race rules have also been completed and are awaiting final approval before being released. Musher registration is scheduled to open on September 4, marking the official start of the countdown to the 2027 Yukon Quest.
There’s plenty happening before then! We’re currently accepting submissions for the 2027 Yukon Quest Poster Contest, where artists are invited to create the official race poster. We encourage original artwork that captures the spirit, history, and tradition of the Yukon Quest. You’ll find submission details and entry forms through the links below.
You can also meet us in person at Animal Day during the Fireweed Farmers Market on Thursday, September 3. Stop by to meet our team, cuddle some puppies, meet experienced sled dogs, and get an up-close look at the equipment that powers one of the North’s greatest endurance races.
Thanks for following along as we prepare for another incredible Yukon Quest. We look forward to sharing more updates with you in the weeks ahead.
See you on the trail!
