How did your kennel get its name?

I was studying squid at UAF and we named our little homestead Squid Acres. The we got a few sled dogs.

How did you get started running dogs?

Fell into it while living in Fairbanks

What do you love most about dog sledding?

Spending time, exploring in nature with our best friends

Please share any interesting stories or facts about your dogs that will be running in the 2024 race:

At this point almost every dog was bred and raised by us. It’s fun to experience the wilderness with your furry kids!

Why did you enter the 2024 Yukon Quest and what are your goals for the race?

To have fun with my dogs on a beautiful section of trail

How did your dogs get their names?

Fun themes. This year we had the STOUT microbrew names in honor of our first sled dog puppy, Stout. He passed away at age 16 the day before they were born.

We have two awesome helpers this year. Anne is returning for a second year and Leni has been awesome.

Tell us about your favorite volunteer experience on the trail:

I’ve always loved the hospitality at Stepping Stone and Scroggie. It makes it my favorite sections of the trail.
