How did your kennel get its name?
The song Echoes by Pink Floyd and my father’s first (sled) dog named Echoe
How did you get started running dogs?
Grew up in the mushing world. I fell in love with dogs and the sport at a very young age. I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.
What do you love most about dog sledding?
The dogs!!! Especially the connection you build with them on the trail.
Please share any interesting stories or facts about your dogs that will be running in the 2024 race:
Most of the dogs on my team have been with me from the start. Last year, we tackled our biggest races. We went back to the Copper Basin, finishing strong and happy, then took part in the YQ450. I grew up watching my dad compete in the YQ1000. I dreamed to go on that trail and my dogs and I did.
Are you a member of any other organizations in sled dog sports?
Why did you enter the 2024 Yukon Quest and what are your goals for the race?
Have a good time with my dogs and go back on that awesome trail.
Do you listen to music on the trail? If so, what types?
Very diverse. Hard/classic rock, punk, country, grunge, and sometimes rap.
How did your dogs get their names?
Family brain storm that can take from 5 minutes to hours
Share a quick story about one of your indispensable handlers:
Last year, I had an awesome handling crew led by my sister, Lori. They were called the Pink Crew (they wore neon pink hats to match my sled bag). They knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it. This year, Lori will be racing and I wish her the best of luck. The newest member of the crew, Nathaniel, will be taking over. I couldn’t have done it without you guys last year and I can’t thank you enough.
Tell us about your favorite volunteer experience on the trail:
I don’t have a specific story, but without volunteers these types of races would be impossible. Thank you very much for all your hard work!
