How many years have you been running dogs?

How did you get started running dogs?

I began running dogs with the Mawson dogs in Ely, Minnesota. In 1991 all non-indigenous life was kicked out of Antarctica, including sled dogs that were part of the Australian Mawson Research station. Many of these dogs were shipped to Voyageur Outward Bound in Ely, where I worked as an instructor.

How did your dogs get their names?/ How do you choose names?

They are all adopted, so they came pre-named.

Why did you enter the Yukon Quest? What are your goals for the race?

To spend some quality time with my best friends, and to have happy and healthy dogs and see new trails.

What do you love most about running sled dogs?

Being able to hang out with my best friends.

What music do you listen to on the trail?

Rancid, Green Day, Pink Floyd, and The Who

The best husband/handler ever is Greg Newby! As he puts up with my dog addiction.
